I heard he didn’t really like to be filmed rehearsing/interviewed in costume when he wasn’t shooting to ~protect~ Snape’s secrecy (there’s even that clip on Youtube where he stopped a scene blocking for DH2 when he saw he was being filmed), so maybe that’s why.
